Upgrade to a Stainless Steel magazine latch plunger for your 10/22®
Hardened stainless steel with standard spring included
Better magazine hold
Replace your factory magazine latch plunger (part B-36 & B-37) with a new KIDD stainless steel version. With upgraded geometry to both hold your magazine more stable and let it release easier. Your choice of an additional spring tension; standard or 25% higher tension for more resistance.
Installation instructions:
Push out the magazine lever pin and pull the magazine lever down while slightly pressing in on the magazine latch plunger. Once the magazine lever is out the plunger will pull out of the trigger guard completely. After slipping the magazine latch plunger into the spring slide it in the trigger guard. While holding the plunger slightly depressed, put the magazine lever back in the trigger making sure it fits in the cut out of the plunger properly, then put the pin back in the magazine lever to hold everything in place. Function the magazine lever to make sure that the plunger is retracting as it is supposed to retract.

Used on Ruger precision rimfire. Tightened the mag. Much happier with the rifle. Have not had time shoot, in the process of mounting new scope. Went with stronger spring. The mag is more secure. The rifle now chambers and ejects like it should.

get this part
I updated my 10/22 with the Kidd Stainless plunger because it's Stainless like the gun and made to tighter specs being made by Kidd I would go with the stronger spring because it takes all the play out of the Mag to receiver Kidd makes great parts

Mag Latch Plunger
I saw a YouTube video regarding using the Kidd SS latch plunger and figured "why not"? I was to my wits end trying to at least slow down the terrible feed/eject fiasco on my 10/22. I also purchased the heavier spring. The combination of the two really did improve the action. I have not had a chance to cycle any fired rounds yet, but by hand the mag is tighter and the feed/ejection has definitely improved. Anyone having similar issues, (there seems to be many), I recommend spending the $, (it's not much), and give them a try. Great communication and pretty zippy shipping too!

Works great
Magazines are much more secure in the rifle. Pretty much eliminates failures to feed with the stronger spring. Even the couple of cheap Butler Creek mags I have now feed with no issues.

The path to reliably cycling BX-25 magazines requires this product.
For objectivity's sake: I tested the plunger/heavy spring combo using two BNIB BX-25 mags as testing control & four BX-25 with "spent casing" mod. Rifle used was a 10/22 Collector's Series Second Edition that reliably cycled rotary magazines. Results: Using the plunger/heavy spring combo, unmodified BX-25 magazines will not feed reliably. The addition of "the spent casing" mod resulted in reliable feeding from all mags tested, with over 2k rounds cycled. Conclusion: For this product to work reliably with BX-25 magazines, the magazines need to be modified with 'the spent casing" mod.

Ruger Precision Rimfire
Plunger and +25 spring works great! It really seated the magazine better and brought my group size down. The RPR really shoots like I expected it to from the factory now.

Mag issue fixed!!
If your mags wobble around inside the magazine well you definitely need this! This fixed my failure to feed issue. I highly recommend you pay a little more and get the higher tension spring added to your purchase. It will sit way firmer in the magwell

Q:
10/22 mag latch plunger - how exactly is the 'geometry improved' ? the mag is located by a pin on the backside, which allows for a lot of slop but easier release, and a post on the breech side that fits in a locator recess of the receiver. Not much to work with...

Hi Ted,
Thank you for your interest. You may see "not much" to work with but even the small precise changes can enhance the performance of this part. -Good shooting!

I need an “extra strength” magazine plunger spring to replace the standard strength spring that came in my Kidd two-stage trigger assembly. I do not need the plunger and standard spring … only an extra strength spring. Can I buy this part separately? Thank you! Danny

Q:
WILL THE LATCH PLUNGER AND SPRING ELIMINATE MAGAZINE "WOBBLE" AND ELIMINATE JAMS IN THE 10/22 RUGER?
Asked by:
PATRICK MAHONEY
- 2/17/2021
A:
Hi Patrick,
Thank you for your interest in our Kidd magazine latch plunger. If the cause of magazine wobble and jamming is an undersized plunger and weak plunger spring than an aftermarket properly fitting plunger will fix the problem.
Good shooting!
Mary Kidd
