Upgrade the bolt handle assembly in the 10/22®
3 distinctly contoured handles to choose from
Slick guide rod for easy racking
Interchangeable tuning springs:(White=standard, Red=10% increase, Grey=10% decrease)
This great
upgrade kit for your 10/22
®
will provide you with a comfortable bolt handle to grasp, a "super slick" guide rod, and the ability to tune the recoil of your rifle with our interchangeable springs. All bolt handle lengths are 1 3/4", which is 1/4" longer than the factory bolt handle assembly kit giving greater clearance for the shooter's knuckles while racking the bolt.
The three tuning springs come in varying tensions for the ultimate in tuning capability. Though by and large the standard tension spring will serve the shooter throughout the different ammunition velocities. If, due to tolerance stacking or preferred ammunition the cycling of the action is out of sync then the shooter has the capability to change the spring without using the more primitive method of cutting coils to tune a spring.
Handle Weights:
black with black viton cushion = .4 oz
silver with black viton cushion= .6 oz
black ring (6 ring cuts)= .3 oz
silver ring (6 ring cuts)= .6 oz
black 762 (modified z shape flute)= .3 oz
silver 762 (modified z shape flute)= .6oz
Precision ground guide rod is made from hardened tool steel and held to 2/10,000" tolerance throughout its entire length. The rod is nitride treated which gives its surface a 70C rockwell (harder than a file) surface hardness. Guaranteed the smoothest and slickest guide rod in the industry.
Packaging Includes:
bolt handle
guide rod
3 tuning springs
Installation instructions:
After removing the stock from the barreled action, remove the trigger and bolt stop. This will allow the needed clearance for the bolt to be removed along with the bolt handle assembly. After choosing your proper spring tension slip the bolt handle assembly in from the ejection port, placing the cone end of the rod into the containment hole in the receiver. Then fully compress the bolt handle assembly while placing the bolt on it. After the mating of the bolt handle and bolt, let off the containment allowing the bolt to go forward. Install the bolt stop pin, trigger and stock. The video below offers some of the finer installation points.

My new KIDD 10/22 parts
Over the past weekend, I loaded a magazine full of rounds and proceeded to attempt to fire them out of my 10/22. I couldn't make it past 3 or 4 rounds without an empty case slammed up against a live round in the chamber. I went online and ordered the KIDD bolt, recoil buffer, and a bolt handle/ charging assembly. Received the parts and installed them today. I am at 300 rounds so far and have NOT HAD A SINGLE ISSUE!!!!! I cannot even express how happy I am! Thank you so much Tony Kidd and crew! You've turned my 10/22 from an unreliable piece of garbage into something I really enjoy! I''m not kidding when I say that I'm telling everyone I know that has a 10/22! Thank you so much!

Very good handle
I wanted a new charging handle to complete the look of my gun and keep from hurting my finger when charging the gun like I have done several times with the stock handle. I got on several forums and found that many people were running this charging handle. I have not seen any negative feedback and I don't have any either. The finish on this is smooth and the rubber makes it so your finger doesn't slip off when charging. This is a must for any 10/22 and I will be buying another for my next 10/22 build. Hit the order button.

Great Product!
I recently purchased the black round bolt handle and could not be happier! The smoothness of the handle make shooting hundreds of rounds at a time enjoyable and does not dig into your hands every time you need to reload. Well made product that is easy to install. Worth the money.

As always, excellent!
Using the stainless cocking handle and guide rod assembly has been an excellent choice for me. I purchased my first one last year, and was duly impressed. When I started building my next project, I didn't think twice, and ordered the SS assembly and have no regrets.

Business Owner
This KIDD cocking unit is slicker than anything I have ever seen. The machining that went into it is so precise, one wonders why other companies cannot get it this good. The KIDD products are simply second to none.

Q:
Standard spring worked fine with your bolt. what are the relative rates on the other 2 springs and when would they be needed?
Asked by:
chuck
- 12/11/2015
A:
There is no absolute formula for when to use the 10% heavier or 10% lighter. Perfect timing allows the autoloader to cycle without fail and imperfect timing can cause problems. For most rifle set ups and most ammunition the standard spring will work best. But if, for instance a rifle was cycling well until a lighter load of ammunition was tried then the 10% lighter spring may facilitate proper timing once again. Good shooting! KIDD

Q:
Will the 10% decrease spring allow the action to cycle while shooting subsonic loads like the CCI Quiet (710 fps)?
Asked by:
Scott
- 3/23/2016
A:
No, this load is not powerful enough to cycle the action. Good shooting! KIDD

Q:
The picture shows several different charging handle styles. Which is the "Vinton" and which is the "ring"?
Asked by:
Doug Lash
- 4/7/2016
A:
The "viton" refers to the handle with the 1/2" rubber cushion and the "ring" is often referred to affectionately as the honey dipper. Good shooting! KIDD

Q:
I recently purchased the "Bolt Handle Charging Assembly w/Guide Rod & Springs", and I am really pleased with it. Only issue I am coming across is that once I fire the last round, the charging handle does not lock open (it was locking open with the original Ruger hardware). Any suggestions as to what I can do to address this? I think I am using the standard spring (unfortunately the color coding has come off all but the red-coded spring). Thanks.
Asked by:
Jeff
- 8/1/2016
A:
Hi Jeff, Thank you for your purchase. Locking back the bolt is accomplished by the bolt hold open or auto bolt release bracing back the bolt. It would be unusual for the bolt handle to effect this relationship. Could any other changes have been made to your rifle? Good shooting! KIDD

Q:
I would like to order a charging Assembly but it seems the one I would like is not in stock?? The black curved handle would be it. Are you in fact out of stock on that item, for it does not pop up under choices when I tried to order. I will wait if necessary if they are on order for that is the only one I would like. I will also order a few more items. I purchased a new Ruger 10/22 sporter this past March and am a bit dissapointed in the quality. I love your site, its fantastic. Thanks, Paul
Asked by:
Paul Bernard
- 5/2/2016
A:
Hi Paul, The curved style was my favorite as well. But we were in the minority. So we will no longer be offering the curved. Thank you for your interest in our products. Good shooting! KIDD

Q:
I had hoped someone had already asked - which one is standard....the blank one one or the white one? When would we use the red one? Thank you!
Asked by:
Cathy
- 4/12/2018
A:
The springs should be marked with a small amount of paint on them. The white springs comes in the tube with the guide rod already installed on it. Then you will have one spring with no paint which is the one you can use with subsonic ammo and a red spring that is recommended for high velocity ammo.

Q:
Will the factory charging handle fit nicely into these bolts? I have a take down model with aftermarket barrel with the scope mounted on it, as is, the scope mount just barely clears the charging handle... any idea how much more the overall diameter of your charging handle is compared to the factory one?
Asked by:
Kevin Archer
- 7/11/2018
A:
Our charging handles are slightly larger in diameter then the factory handle.

I have looked all over the internet and can't find an image of the KIDD Silver 762 Bolt Handle in a Silver receiver. Do you have a photo from any of your product photo shoots with this combination? Sorry, I'm right-brained, and I'm having a hard time visualizing the combination. Thanks for making such high quality products.
Asked by:
Vince Cottongim
- 7/28/2016
A:
Hi Vince, We don't have any pictures of a silver 762 on a silver receiver. We will post a picture on the barreled action page of the silver 762 on a black receiver, as we have a build about to ship with that combination. Your picture request will go on the to do list. Thank you for your interest. Good shooting! KIDd
