Questions and Answers
Upgrade your 10/22® bolt hold open to an auto bolt release
Rack the bolt with a simple pull
No gunsmith required for installation
Manufactured from steel cut by laser
The KIDD Auto Bolt Release will replace your factory bolt hold open in the 10/22
®
trigger. This upgrade will allow the shooter to simply pull back on the bolt handle when the bolt is locked back to allow the bolt to go forward. No more fiddling with the factory bolt hold open to allow the bolt to go forward.
All KIDD trigger units come with the auto bolt release as standard, but this product can be used to upgrade your current factory trigger.
Replacement instructions:
With the trigger removed from the receiver push the ejector pin and magazine release latch pin 1/3 of the way out starting from the bolt hold open side of the trigger. Pull out the current bolt hold open then slide in the KIDD Auto Bolt release. Push the two pins back through. Check if it functions correctly by depressing the portion close to the magazine release lever to see if the top side of the auto bolt release toggles up.

This part is a major upgrade to the Ruger 10/22. It works great, and makes the 'bolt hold open' feature far more user friendly. The Kidd part is very high quality. If you make only one upgrade to your 10/22, this should be it. All 10/22s should come from the factory with this type of 'bolt hold open' lever. Ruger needs to take note.

Great Product
This bolt release worked first time, easy installation if you know your 10/22. If not, just look at one of several you tube videos. I had previously purchased a similar product off Amazon that was junk, didn't work. I will go with the Kidd product from now on, they have quality parts.

Great piece!
Very fast shipping from Kidd. I had never taken a gun apart before but with only 2 hex wrenches and a small screwdriver I was able to do this job in about 15 minutes. Don't forget to get the spring in places or else it won't work. It's hard to see the spring down in the trigger assembly. If you have ever done drum brakes before this task feels very similar. I have no idea why Ruger doesn't put this style bolt release in their guns from the factory, it would cost them nothing extra to do it. Luckily Kidd is here to make the part for us. Major difference and makes the gun feel much nicer.

I watched a video on YouTube showing how to file down your bolt release and make it an auto bolt release. I took my daughter’s rifle and it worked. A couple weeks later I decided to try it on mine and some how I fudged it all up. I mean fudged it right in the A. My rifle didn’t work at all when I put it back in. So I heard Kidd was good and I was going to order a couple of bolt buffers anyways, so I threw it in the cart and bought the dang thing. It showed up pretty quick and I installed it with in 5 minutes. It works and I prefer how it sits in the gun and looks to just modifying the original part. So if you want an auto bolt release this is the one to go with.

I purchased an upgraded factory trigger to go along with TD Receiver and Barrel. Realizing how crappy the factory bolt release was I decided to purchase another manufactures release. When I received, inspected the part, it appeared it was made with a stamp machine, the metal around the cutouts was wavy. When I installed it, the bolt release it wouldn't catch no matter how much I tried. I then reinstalled the factory release and it worked accordingly. Once again, installed and tried the aftermarket and nothing. I just received and installed the KIDD ABR and it absolutely looks and works perfectly! There's no comparison between the two products, one is machined and the other is stamped. One works and the other does not. Did I mention the prices are the same?

Great product!
Bought this after the auto bolt release I bought off ebay kept sticking with the mag plunger. Perfectly fabricated and smooth. Wish I would have found you before I purchased an ext mag release elsewhere!

Auto bolt release
Auto bolt release does as described, my only concern would the length of the lever where i place my finger to lock the bolt. Its not as extented as the factory one which is a little inconvenient for my chubby fingers. Quality part thanks for hearing my opinion kidd.

Best upgrade ever
Added this release to my Charger, which made it so much easier to release the bolt. No more fumbling around with the release latch. After seeing how great it worked, installed one on my Takedown and on my carbine. Amazed at how all the Kidd parts have increased the functional performance of my rifles.

Q:
I've just received your part # OJ-MVZ8-45AG. Will this product hold the bolt open after last round is fired?
Asked by:
Gary Tessner
- 12/31/2015
A:
Thank you for your purchase. The KIDD ABR is not designed to hold the bolt open after the last shot. It is designed to hold the bolt back when manually actioned then drop out of the way after the bolt handle is racked. Good shooting! KIDD

Q:
If I understand this correctly, this part when pulled back, keeps the bolt back as the factory part does. Makes it easier to remove the barrel on takedown models. But, another pull moves the bolt forward without fumbling with the factory release?
Asked by:
Bear
- 3/13/2021
A:
Yes, that is correct.
