Avoiding barrel droop — our engineering
Barrel droop is avoided through a resistance-fit mortise-and-tenon and tight geometric control. We make the tenon slightly oversized and hold its diameter uniform along the length so the barrel seats solidly in the receiver. The shoulder between the .920" contour and the tenon is machined as a clean step (not a ramp) so the barrel sits flush and fully supported. Proper fit prevents the “teeter-totter” effect and long-term alignment drift. When seated, v-block screws should be snug (~10 in-lb) — enough to secure the barrel without distorting alignment.
Installation & break-in tips
• Inspect: Remove paint/debris from the receiver mortise before install. • Lubricate: Apply a light anti-seize compound to the tenon to ease fitment. • Seat: Start the tenon into the mortise, align the extractor slot, then gently tap the rear of the receiver with a rubber mallet until fully seated. • Torque: Set v-block screws to ~10 in-lb — snug, not crushing. • Break-in: Run two magazines through the barrel before evaluating groups; repeat after changing ammo. • Cleaning: Keep the chamber clean; avoid over-scrubbing the bore. Typical bore-clean interval: ~500 rounds (varies by ammo).
