Another superb aftermarket barrel for the .22LR by Kidd Innovative Design. This Ultra Lightweight Fluted Bull Barrel weighs just over a pound and yet is a great shooter!  We have seen a niche in our barrel market for a much lighter weight barrel and believe our customers will benefit from our durable steel barrel anchored by a stainless steel breech and stainless steel muzzle design.  As with all our barrels the bore is hand lapped here at KIDD.

This will be great for people who don't want to tote around a heavy rifle but still want a high quality product.  At 1.25 pounds and 16 1/4 inches in length this is our lightest rifle barrel.  Our product testing has resulted in 1/2" groups at 50 yards.  Though, we don't guarantee this barrel to group at that rate.  A threaded muzzle is an option on the barrel and our threading is 1/2"-28 and is available with a protective cap or muzzle brake.

For those customers that would like our threaded and caped version the length will increase just slightly to 16 3/4" and our ultra lightweight barrel with our aluminum muzzle brake will be 18 1/4" in overall length.  This aftermarket 10/22® barrel will drop into any bull barrel channel rifle stock and will look like it was custom made for it.

Avoiding "barrel droop":
First and foremost barrel droop is eliminated with a solid fit between the barrel and the receiver.  If the barrel slips in too easily then the shooter should already be aware that there is not a secure fit and gravity will start doing her work immediately.  Or if the barrel tenon is not the same diameter throughout the length then a teeter totter effect is set in motion.  For instance if the breach end of the tenon is smaller than the shoulder end the weight of the barrel will "pull" the barrel down and barrel droop is created.  Or if the breach end of the tenon is larger than the shoulder end then as the tenon is installed in the mortise the breach carves a larger hole and again a teeter totter effect is created as the smaller shoulder end of the tenon sits is a hole that is too large.  This same effect would happen if the middle of the barrel tenon was enlarged.

KIDD eliminated barrel droop with the utilization of a resistance fit in this mortise and tenon joint, meaning that the KIDD barrel tenon is just slightly larger in diameter than the KIDD receiver mortise and we make absolutely certain that the tenon is the same diameter throughout the length.

Another problem area to be aware of is the proper utilization of the shoulder.  If the shoulder of the barrel does not set flush against the receiver then again the support isn't there.  Comparable to setting down a tall glass with a convex bottom, it wants to tilt.  We make certain that the shoulder created between the .920" diameter and our tenon is precise.  This requires specialty cutting tools to create a very clean step.  But if done with less care there will be a ramp rather than a step between these two differing diameters.  This ramp will not support the necessary weight and will prevent the shoulder of the barrel from sitting flush against the receiver.

When this barrel fitment is secure we recommend the v-block screws just need to be snug, around 10 inch pounds, which is just snug enough to keep the barrel from moving forward, but not too tight to pull the barrel out of alignment.

Barrel installation:

Depending on your receiver, if there is paint build up in the receiver mortise be sure to scrape that out. We recommend using an anti-seize compound to assist in installation. Anti-seize is readily available at automotive stores.  It is best if you can get the barrel tenon started into the receiver mortise, then turn it over and tap the back of the receiver with a rubber mallet. Be sure to line the extractor slot up as you are installing the barrel. Your barrel is ready to shoot, just run two magazines through it before you really start looking at group size. Do this each time you change brands of ammunition as well. Keep the chamber clean, but don't clean the bore too much you will decrease accuracy. Depending on the ammo, clean the bore around every 500 rounds.

Crazy light!
I just purchased one of these barrels for a plinking rifle I built for my kids. When the box came in it was so light I didn't think anything was in it! Packaging was top notch with the barrel being protected in a tube suspended by rubber orings. The machine work on the barrel and attention to detail is superb. The fit to my 50th Anniversary receiver was nice and snug. It was installed easily with a few light taps of a rubber mallet. Upon assembly, it ran 20 rounds of cheap Winchester M22's like a sewing machine. I'm planning on shooting some Lapua Midas + for groups when the weather clears. I am VERY satisfied with this purchase! If you are looking for a light barrel look no further! shoot the balls off a fly at 100yds
Howdy folks, after having this barrel for a few months, I figured I would write a quick review. The claimed accuracy is extremely conservative; I have personally found that this rifle is a ragged one hole shooter at 50yds, and absolutely LOVES SK standard. Rifle is so accurate, I performed a headshot on a squirrel at 100yds with ease. I built my 10/22 with a hogue overmold stock, (the .920 barrel channel is what you want to use, there is hardly any noticeable gap when the barrel tapers and looks great) and as a lightweight walk around gun. Weight comes in right at under 5lbs, loaded and with optic( Bushnell AR223).

Great Barrel
This is my second Kidd barrel on the same gun. I started with an 18" lightweight barrel and after a year I switched over to this ultra-lightweight barrel in an attempt to gain more speed in competition, as well as to make the gun lighter for my daughter as I teach her how to shoot. I believe that the previous barrel was SLIGHTLY (I'm talking a few tenths of an inch) more accurate, but this ultra-lightweight barrel balances much more nicely in the hand using an Evolution stock, and I prefer it over the heavier barrel. I'm a speed shooter on steel so I don't normally shoot groups, but I do sight it in at 25 yards, and both barrels will group onto the head of a bolt at that distance using bulk Remington Golden Bullets (both 36gr and 40gr) as well as bulk CCI Standard Velocity bullets.

I love it!
I bought this barrel with the muzzle break. I love the design and finish of the barrel: I love the accuracy even more. I shot out the bullseye at 50 yards with this barrel using the cheap Remington Golden Bullets. Prior to buying this barrel I had the 20" Target Bull Barrel from Kidd for 2 years. I was worried that I would compromise on accuracy for weight. I am glad I made the trade, because now I have the accuracy and weight that I want.

Mr.
I received this barrel for Christmas along with several other 10/22 parts. It installed easily and as other have said, can cut one hole groups at 50 yards. I built my gun to be a short, lightweight woods gun for just packing around but this thing is competition worthy. Worth every penny and then some!

Ultra lightweight Barrel
I received my barrel in the mail a few days ago, and was immediately impressed with the quality. Very striking right out of the box! I got to take it to the range today, and lemme tell you, this barrel is more accurate than I am. My groups werea little larger than I had hoped for, but that was due to ammo going trans-sonic, stock trigger (the Kidd one stage trigger is next on my list), and me having an energy drink prior haha. I installed it onto a gun with a Hogue overmold stock and it sets the look off! Don't hesitate to buy this barrel, you wont regret it!

Ultralight barrel
After learning what Kidd does for the 10/22 I decided to start my upgrade with this barrel. I was tied between the match bull barrel and this beauty. I am glad I opted for the ultra lightweight. It is masterfully crafted and impressive to look at. The accuracy is beyond expectations, first time out I was getting same hole groups with whitebox ammo. Can't wait to take it hunting. Outstanding product! Thanks Tony for doing what you do!

Ultra Lightweight 10-22 threaded
I finally got to shoot it this weekend. After a careful sight in I was getting 1" groups at 50 yards with a stock trigger. I am hoping to upgrade the trigger next and I expect a lot more consistency out of my shot process after that. Overall I love this barrel.

Mr.
Extremely happy with this barrel. I sold my other barrel to replace it with this barrel from kidd. Quality is top notch and the price is good compared to the competition. The only complaint with this barrel is that it is not .920 diameter. There is some space that is barely noticeable between the barrel and my hogue stock. Overall I'm more than satisfied with this barrel even though my compensator and stock would have matched perfectly if it were .920.
