Why this barrel
Our 18" diamond fluted 10/22® bull barrel (.920") combines precision engineering with standout aesthetics. Built from black bead-blasted chromoly steel, it features an 11-degree crown, 1:16 twist, convex extractor slot, and optional 1/2"-28 muzzle threading. Every barrel is guaranteed to group 1/2" at 50 yards, making it a perfect upgrade for factory or aftermarket 10/22® receivers.
Precision engineering & performance
Bored and rifled by Lothar Walther in Germany, each barrel receives final hand-lapping and machining by Tony Kidd. A proprietary chamber reamer ensures smooth feeding of .22LR ammo, while the 1:16 twist stabilizes bullets for consistent accuracy. Optional muzzle threading includes a protective cap for suppressors or muzzle devices.
The convex extractor slot is a rare, precision feature that keeps the extractor perfectly aligned with the case rim, eliminating common extraction issues. Each barrel is finished with an 11-degree crown and double ring at the muzzle, proudly marked with the KIDD logo.
Eliminating barrel droop
Barrel droop is prevented through a resistance-fit mortise and tenon joint. The barrel tenon is slightly larger than the receiver mortise and maintains consistent diameter throughout its length, while a precisely cut shoulder ensures the barrel sits flush against the receiver. This engineering avoids tilting, allowing the v-block screws to be snugged just around 10 in-lb—enough to secure the barrel without disrupting alignment.
Installation tips
Clean paint or debris from the receiver mortise before installation.
Apply a light anti-seize compound to the barrel tenon.
Align the extractor slot and gently tap the receiver rear with a rubber mallet to seat the barrel.
Run two magazines through before evaluating groups, repeating when switching ammo brands.
Keep the chamber clean but avoid over-cleaning the bore; roughly every 500 rounds depending on ammo.
