Avoiding barrel droop — our engineering
Barrel droop is prevented through a resistance-fit mortise-and-tenon. We hold the tenon diameter uniform and slightly oversized for a tight, repeatable seat. The shoulder between the .920" contour and the tenon is machined as a clean step (not a ramp) so the barrel sits flush against the receiver and resists tilt or long-term sag. When fitment is correct, v-block screws only need to be snug (~10 in-lb).
Installation & break-in tips
• Inspect: Remove paint/debris from the receiver mortise before install. • Lubricate: Apply a light anti-seize compound to the tenon to ease installation. • Seat: Start the tenon into the mortise, align the extractor slot, then gently tap the rear of the receiver with a rubber mallet to seat. • V-blocks: Tighten v-block screws snug (~10 in-lb) — enough to prevent forward movement without distorting alignment. • Break-in: Run two magazines through the barrel before evaluating groups; repeat after changing ammunition brands. • Cleaning: Keep the chamber clean; avoid excessive bore scrubbing. Typical bore-clean interval: ~500 rounds (varies by ammo).
