  • 2 POUND 22LR barrel
  • SLIP FIT DESIGN for the Ruger 10/22
  • STAINLESS STEEL core construction
  • HAND LAPPED individually
  • 11 degree crown, 1:16 twist, convex extractor slot

Our aftermarket lightweight 10-22 barrel is an aftermarket replacement for the Ruger 10-22 barrel.  This is a fantastic 2 pound 10-22 barrel to slip into your Ruger 10-22 rifle or other aftermarket 10-22 receiver.  This lightweight bull barrel design is unique due to the singular construction of the barrel, breech to muzzle.  Then we sleeve the barrel with a black or silver anodized tube to give it a bull barrel look, along with an extremely rigid and durable construction.  This innovation in the 10-22 barrel gives it unparalleled accuracy in this weight class.  As an aside, if you are looking for an even lighter lightweight 10-22 barrel, we offer the Ultra Lightweight 10-22 barrel.

The Kidd 10-22 Lightweight barrel has a bull diameter for the first two inches and then steps down to .870 until the muzzle.  The bull barrel channel of .920 barrel channel works perfect for this barrel.  The 18" barrel weighs 2 pounds and the 16.5" barrel weighs 1 pound 14 ounces

Our muzzle threading is 1/2"-28 and is available with a protective cap or muzzle brake.  We believe these are the finest barrels on the market, each one is HAND LAPPED. Our stainless steel barrel is bored and rifled by Lothar Walther in Germany. Tony Kidd then performs all the final machining to make our match barrel a worthy KIDD product. A proprietary chamber reamer is used to ensure the cartridge and bullet feed smoothly.   Our barrels are chambered to accept .22 LR ammo and have a 1:16 twist.

The unique convex extractor slot eliminates extraction problems by ensuring the extractor is always in perfect alignment with the case rim. Why doesn't everybody use this extractor slot? Because the tooling is very expensive and requires tolerances be held very close for proper machining. Each barrel receives an 11 degree crown.

To avoid "barrel droop," check your clamp to make sure you only have moderate tension on the screws. We tighten them to around 10 inch pounds which is just snug enough to keep the barrel from moving forward. No more than this, as even the slightest tension moves the barrel and receiver out of alignment.

Barrel installation:

Depending on your receiver, if there is paint build up in the receiver where the barrel extension is inserted, be sure to scrape that out. If the barrel is tight, use an anti-seize compound to assist in installation. It is best if you can get the barrel started, then turn it over and tap the back of the receiver with a rubber mallet. Be sure to line the extractor slot up as you are installing the barrel. Your barrel is ready to shoot, just run two magazines through it before you really start looking at group size. Do this each time you change brands of ammunition as well. Keep the chamber clean, but don't clean the bore too much as you will decrease accuracy. Depending on the ammo, clean the bore around every 500 rounds.

Rating Really Impressive
I went to the range today with my new Kidd barrel, trigger assy, and ejector. The gun fired flawlessly. And very accurate. I won't brag about group size. But, I shot much better than ever before. Get these Kidd parts, you will not be disappointed. And your friends will be impressed.

I just got back home from my first time at the range with my new 10/22 build. I have the lightweight 16.5 inch barrel, the silver scalloped bolt, and the bolt damper installed. My rifle used to have on average about 15 mis-fire,or mis-feed problems out of a 100 round range time. With the new set-up, the rifle was very easy to dial in, and now shoots a very consistent 3-4 rounds through the same bullet hole at 75 yards out. This is my new favorite toy! I got quite a bit of compliments from other people at the range, and the range master even asked if he could shoot a few rounds with it. I am very happy with the KIDD products, and will very likely build another rifle for my brother's Christmas present. I am sure that the rifle is more accurate than I am capable of. Thank you very much for your fine products!

Rating Fantastic Barrel!
I'm shooting pennies at 50 yards with CCI Standard Velocity ammo. Need more be said? Well, a little more... This barrel is the perfect weight for creating a well balanced rifle. Think of how a really great over/under shotgun balances in the hands: this barrel strikes that perfect balance when paired with a laminate stock. Suggest you get the KIDD extractor with this barrel as I had a few extraction problems with the Ruger extractor; swapped it with the KIDD and it has functioned perfectly since.

Rating Superb quality and accuracy
I bought one of the light weight barrels in bead blasted 18" length. I have only been able to shoot Remington golden bullets out of this because of the ammo shortage. At 50 yds all shots when inside of a dime and that was with wind and a scope that had a fuzzy reticle. It wouldn't focus at 50yds for some reason. Anyway this barrel is a finely made piece and you won't be disappointed. the other thing I like about this light weight is it has a steel shank instead of an aluminum one like some other manufacturers. Don't hesitate to spend he money on this barrel you will be extremely happy.

Rating Thanks
Shalee I today got a chance to take the new barrel out to the range, I love it, it grouped extremely well and consistently using 6 differant types of ammunition, anything from the cheapest stuff to low end target quality stuff. Perhaps what pleasantly surprised me the most was the improvement with the bulk ammo and the ease it had in handling all of these brands and types of ammo, from subsonic up to high velocity. Obviously the higher quality ammo provided tighter groups, but the barrel handled everything I ran through it admirably. The lightweight barrel feels totally balanced in the SR-22, I suspect that I may have found the bull barrel to be somewhat front heavy. Very sincerely Howard

Rating KIDD Light Weight Barrel 16.5"
I recently purchased a KIDD Light Weight 16.5" barrel to round out the completion of my modded Ruger 10/22 Carbine & I must say this barrel is accurate! This barrel holds very tight groups even with cheaper brands of ammo I ran a test using 13 different brands of ammo and all rounds performed exceptionally well through this barrel. I found Wolf Match target (40 grain solid)& CCI Mini-Mag (40 grain solid)to perform the best. And as far as cheap ammo CCI Blazer (40 grain solid) & Winchester Super X (40 grain solid) performed fairly well. @ 50 yards with 5 shot groups the group size was 9/16" or 1.4 cm. Very High quality & accurate barrel, I intend on buying another in the near future.

Rating 18 inch threaded light weight barrel
I have owned several after market barrels for my 10/22s, including heavy bull barrels. The Kidd barrel is the most accurate barrel I have. Supported with just a Caldwell rest located just in front of the trigger group, and using a Kidd single stage trigger (1.5 lbs), I can shoot ragged one hole groups that are less than 1/4 inch at 25 yards. Love the light weight combined with the great accuracy. Had another light weight barrel, but it was not nearly as accurate as this one. Also, this barrel shoots great groups with anything I feed it, from subsonic Wolf Target to high velocity CCI Mini-Mag to hypervelocity CCI Velocitor. Great barrel!

Rating 18.5"Light Weight Barrel
I have had my 18.5" barrel now for 1 year. I use if for sporter rifle competition. My scores have continued to improve since I have had this barrel. I am now shooting low to mid 280's with this barrel. I would not hesitate from recomending this barrel to anyone.

Best barrel I have ever had for my Ruger 10/22. I am using the KIDD CNC .22 bolt, I personally feel this is the best combination. I do not know how well this barrel will work with a stock receiver but it is AWESOME!!! with the KIDD CNC receiver!!! My best shot so far has been squirrels at 134 yards (distance from my porch to the deer feeder).
